Egili Oliveira was born in Bahia, Brazil. When Egili was five years old, she moved to Niterói, Rio de Janeiro to live with her Baiana grandmother. This is when her passion for samba began. Thus at the age of five, Egili began mastering samba no pé. By the time Egili was fifteen years old, she became a Rainha da Bateria at the samba school, Arco-Iris Acadêmicos do Samba in São Paulo, and her career as a samba star began.
2006 marked a new chapter in Egili’s life. That year, she fell in love with and joined the renowned samba school, Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, in Rio de Janeiro. At Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, she learned to be a top Passista under the tutelage of master samba teacher, Carlinhos do Salgueiro, for ten years.
Today Egili is an international master samba teacher and she is committed to sharing her gift for samba no pé with the world. Egili has imparted her special gift to dancers during samba workshops in the United States, France, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Argentina, Portugal, and Spain.
Egili will teach the sensational Passista samba style straight from the top samba schools in Rio de Janeiro. Each student will learn her graceful samba no pé technique as well as her extraordinary footwork. By the end of the workshop, each student will samba with the same grace, charm, and energy as a true muse, king, or queen of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnaval.
