Bio:
Gato has danced for several years for Salgueiro and Tuiuti, both samba schools of the Professional Liga (Grupo Especial) of Rio’s Carnival.
He mastered the high heels in order to teach his students how to become more feminine and sensual. He teaches Samba as a lifestyle: a fun way of staying fit or getting in shape, that boosts your confidence through performances and unleashes your inner Goddess!
Most recently, Gato de Salto, has made his mark as a judge at prestigious Samba competitions in the USA, Germany, and Australia, helping shape the future of this vibrant dance form. He also achieved a significant milestone in 2024 by becoming part of the body of teachers at Impulstanz, one of Europe’s largest and most renowned dance festivals. Furthermore, as a Muse at Rio Carnival for the past two years, Gato has been breaking boundaries by wearing heels and costumes traditionally associated with the female body. Through this bold choice, Gato uses his platform to advocate for diversity, support the LGBTQIA+ community, and challenge the objectification of women’s bodies within Samba.
Gato holds a title of Bachelor of Arts in “Transcultural Communication” and also works as a Conference Interpreter. Languages, travelling and other cultures are further passions. This combination of skills has resulted in international success and Gato has taught workshops in over 20 countries, performed in several festivals and touched the hearts of thousands of people.
