Founder / Artistic Director / Head Teacher
Raquel Bastazin, Brazilian of origin, Canadian and Montreal by choice, she dedicated the last 11 years to develop her dancing career and to build Levanta Poeira, a school dedicated to the learning of Brazilian dance as: Samba, Maracatu , Brazilian Afro, Coco, DUB- Brazilian Urban Dances, among others in the Montreal scene. Highlighting Brazil’s culture in this city, it contributes to enriching its cultural diversity. Levanta Poeira is distinguished by her concern to combat certain prejudices towards women, especially the women who practice these dances. Raquel Bastazin has always had the freedom of women at the heart of her projects. So, her Brazilian dance classes help to strengthen women’s self-esteem. In a space full of opportunities for meetings, discoveries, cultural sharing and, above all, joy, the school plays an integrating role for solidarity between women. Raquel has added Pilates and Essentrics, two methods that are very complementary to dance, to her expertise. Her knowledge of intelligent physical training is an asset to her technique and the development of a healthy, happy and dynamic body.
